AZURE SEAS

While our ship was docked at Sorrento, Italy, a frighteningly exciting storm came up. Midnight Sun

It is kind of a shock to come out of the theatre from a evening performance ---- in ANY PLACE in Scandinavia, to an almost bright blue sky. You are "prepared" for darkness, and you blink in disbelief, thinking perhaps the Hans Christian Anderson magically transported you to a fairyland. You are definitely THERE, even if it wasn't HE who beamed you. Eyes adjust, and if you really squint, you can see distant twinkling. On a 3" pale blue ball. EMBRACEABLE

On a cruise, we met a very wealthy gentleman who was traveling with, and overwhelmed by, a lovely lady companion. To prove his ardor, in Dubai he bought her a "slave bracelet" which consisted of a ring for every finger, each of which was "connected" to an elaborate bracelet at the wrist. It would have been "too much" at the formal affair but we found the design fascinating and we called it "EMBRACEABLE". HOUSE OF LORDS

There can be some argument, we suppose, for sweeping away the cobwebs of ancient tradition, such as powdered wigs, but somehow making the HOUSE OF LORDS more "modern", and therefore "accessible", does seem to rob that august body of some of its mystery and awe. In May 1999, we were honored to be escorted through the House by one of its members, and herewith we tip our hats, both to its noble past and its illustrious future. Pearl Divers

No matter what part of the Asian area where natural pearls are harvested, it seems this "impossible" job is done almost exclusively by Japanese women, diving to great depths to retrieve gorgeous pearls to flatter anyone lucky enough to own the REAL thing. Emerald Isle

The Emerald Isle has much to be proud of, and one is bragging about "forty shades of green", and it should be green. I guess, since it rains a LOT!! (Like 17 out of the 19 days we were there). While on a cruise up the Amazon in Brazil, we were encouraged to visit the OPERA HOUSE in Manaus, but we were not prepared for the gorgeousness that literally drizzles from every corner of this Spanish Baroque architecture. Why here? Why not? We were stunned. No wonder all the top stars past AND present , insist an appearance here is a "must". ORANGE SORBET

(Pronounced Sorbay) One very posh restaurant in Southern France offers some 37 sorbets, which is sort of like a sherbet, but creamier, which they may offer quite small, to clean the palate between courses, or as an alternative dessert from the more calorie laden sinfully delicious temptations reaching out achingly from the 3-tier trolley. We chose an orange sorbet, leaning romantically against a huge scoop of vanilla. On a 3" white ball. You could do it on gold of course. Any other color is strictly up to you.

On a recent quick trip back to Paul's hometown New Orleans, to re-connect with some friends who not only SURVIVED, but PREVAILED that horrible catastrophe, "Katrina", there was also a compelling desire to "find" an ice-cream parlor that once offered a mouth-watering delicacy. Was it possible to be the same as we remembered? COULD it be the same? That special peach ice cream, scooped over a secret recipe fudge brownie. THERE WAS THE PLACE! Right, where it had always been. It seems that every king, sovereign, monarch, pharaoh, or Tsar--- in short, anyone who has "graduated" to a position of absolute power, HAS to build some kind of monument to him/her self, and to declare to the world that THEIR taste is as superior as their station. Such was the Romanov Dynasty, which lasted 300 years. To see the lush richness and lavishly draped chambers in the restored palaces in St. Petersburg make one become utterly speechless. In 1634 in Holland, there was such a passion for this showy flower, that fabulous fortunes were spent or traded just to obtain ONE single unique tulip blossom. We didn't really believe that until one April we saw thousands in full bloom in just one or two colors, for as far as they eye could see. No matter how jaded one may THINK one is, it overwhelms any effort to stay in control.....The heart beats faster. Down Under

On a December cruise around New Zealand and Australia, we were lured by enticing reports of how warmed and cozy it would be, SURPRISE!! "Nippy" would be a nice word. Even though there were "pleasant" days, we were somewhat unprepared for the VERY heavy seas, sweeping winds, and banging waves on the open water between the two countries. Forced to retreat from our balcony, the ocean spray ran down the glass doors, reflecting the lavender sunset. Complain some people did & loudly. Not us. Those blurry sparkles, dripping down to the deck became "DOWN UNDER", on a 3" lavender ball but you could do this easily on Gold, White, Navy, or even Purple.

Old Quebec

Have you ever traveled to a place you've never been before, expect so MUCH. And been disappointed? At first? We went to Old Quebec City in NOVEMBER, AND IT WAS RAINY, and DREARY, and COLORLESS. We wondered why we had come. Two days later, the sun came out, the bright reflections bounced off the St. Lawrence River onto the glorious buildings. and we began to know why we were there. The darkness disappeared and we were relaxed to sink gloriously into the welcoming arms of the locals. And the FOOD! The best this side of Paris! Because of the weather, practically the only tourists were CANADIANS!. We combined both reactions on a 3" black ball with lots of crystal reflections. A recent documentary showed a 17th century Swedish ship, miraculously saved by the sea---preserved in cold water and mud and raised INTACT. Fan Dances

Dancing with fans had been used for hundreds of years by many cultures, often to flirt, or court--- but observing an artist with fans in hand, it seems to have been turned into an art form. How the fan is grasped, the tilt of the head, the arch of the back---all have very specific meanings. In no time, you could lose your heart. And often, much more than that. One might think this kind of communication to be quite quaint. However, it is still actively practiced in some parts of the world today! Particularly in the Far East! Maybe change to white? The flower action in Holland is an overwhelming experience. When we were told that "it is the largest building in the world under one roof, the size of 250 football fields". Yeah, right. Welllllll.. it IS!! How do they bid? The mathematical ingenuity involves a "clock" , with a rapidly turning dial. When one investor bids, the "clock" stops. Sale over. New sale begins immediately. Revolving Christmas Tree Stand (Silver)

This is a SILVER 39 1/2" high revolving display stand that holds up to 60-- 3" Cracker Box ornaments. It runs on electricity with an On/Off switch so it slowly rotates (if you want it to) displaying your gorgeous ornaments for all to see. The base is 15 1/2" wide and can sit on most end tables. The assembly of the tree takes only about 20 minutes, and the stand comes with three adjustable levels that can be set at different spaces. with easy to follow instructions. Soft As Silk

Shanghai

Don't exactly know why, but we were not really looking forward to going to a museum in Shanghai. Boy, were WE WRONG! Although "small" by "The Louvre" standards, it is gorgeously displayed, visitor friendly, beautifully lit, and SURPRISE! ---- all the objects are identified in both Chinese and ENGLISH! (Our museums: take note). An antique screen, with a soft celadon green background, was inlaid and ornamented in black and gold, with half hidden white lotus blossoms peeking out here and there. We remember it on a 3" celery ball and wouldn't change the ball color. But of course YOU could---maybe gold, white or black, but there would still be a touch of celadon green in the hanger.

In June 1999, we were invited by our English friends to be their guests in a box (not all that far from the Queen) for the opening of the Ascot Races. In 1999, we were guests of the Lord and Lady Haslam in a box for the Royal Ascot Races (LA DEE DAH!!!) Absolutly Lovely

Friends in Vancouver drove us up in the hills to get the "best" view and stopped in front of "the largest and most beautiful house & gardens in our city" We brazenly called up to a gardener on the 4th tier, pruning Japanese magnolias which bordered a waterfall. He came down, smiling, and escorted us through "room" after "room" of fantasy blooms. One tier of royal dahlias spread what seemed like forever, backed by white peonies and white roses. If you've done our "Southern Belle" ornament, you will immediately recognize this as the second inspiration from that 1938 Bette Davis film, in which a headstrong young Southern girl is given her first real discipline by Henry Fonda. What a shock it must have been just before the turn of the 20th century when artisits and architects came out of hiding with radically new designs and shapes. The art world was turned topsy turvy. Agrigento

If you've only visited Italy proper and NOT Sicily, make new travel plans, you will discover some of the most magnificent extant GREEK ruins, many so imposing, they literally take your breath away. Vines Along The Rhine

The River cruise boat floated quietly down the Rhine River through Germany, Austria and Hungary. Castles were silhouetted against following clouds. The steep hills made it seem virtually impossible for anything to be tilled much less HARVESTED. But there they were, rows and rows, as far as one could see, grape clusters on vines that seemed as if they would fall into the river. They didn't and wouldn't. And the wine!! Literally fit for the gods, which we ofter pretended to be, On a 3" lavendar ball but you might try this one on white, gold, celery or if you are very brave, pale blue.

Revolving Christmas Ornament Tree Stand (Gold)

This is a GOLD 39 1/2" high revolving display stand that holds up to 60-- 3" Cracker Box ornaments. It runs on electricity with an On/Off switch so it slowly rotates (if you want it to) displaying your gorgeous ornaments for all to see. The base is 15 1/2" wide and can sit on most end tables. The assembly of the tree takes only about 20 minutes, and the stand comes with three adjustable levels that can be set at different spaces. with easy to follow instructions. On the pictured display we have placed 30 ornaments but an additional 30 ornaments can be hung on the inside hangers. We also do offer this display in Silver. The attached picture is the silver stand but the one you will get is gold color.
