Pearl Divers

 

 

No matter what part of the Asian area where natural pearls are harvested, it seems this "impossible" job is done almost exclusively by Japanese women, diving to great depths to retrieve gorgeous pearls to flatter anyone lucky enough to own the REAL thing. These of course are not real, but remind us of those INTREPID ladies On a 3" royal blue ball, but you might remember them on any of our 13 alternative colors we offer.

Shadows in the Mirror

 

 

When no one is around to rudely shake you into reality, you can dim the light as you look in the mirror, and move so the shadows let you pretend to be whomever you wish to be --- even if it's just for a little while. There are VERY private times you don't NEED to share with anyone! On a 3" lavender ball, but you might want to do it on any of our colors that "allow" all the lavender, like White, Gold or if your are adventurous, BLACK or PURPLE.

We are told that up near the North Pole, the stars are so clear they seem to twinkle GOLD and SILVER, and so close, they can be picked for a bouquet. On a 3" royal blue ball. made brighter still with faceted Austrian glass jewels. Bedazzling on any of the following colors royal, emerald, red, gold, white, pale blue, purple, lavender, hot pink, baby pink, yellow, celery and what a night on black.

OPERA HOUSE

 

 

While on a cruise up the Amazon in Brazil, we were encouraged to visit the OPERA HOUSE in Manaus, but we were not prepared for the gorgeousness that literally drizzles from every corner of this Spanish Baroque architecture. Why here? Why not? We were stunned. No wonder all the top stars past AND present , insist an appearance here is a "must". On a 3" celery ball but you could easily do it on white, gold, lavender, or purple.

ORANGE SORBET

 

 

(Pronounced Sorbay) One very posh restaurant in Southern France offers some 37 sorbets, which is sort of like a sherbet, but creamier, which they may offer quite small, to clean the palate between courses, or as an alternative dessert from the more calorie laden sinfully delicious temptations reaching out achingly from the 3-tier trolley. We chose an orange sorbet, leaning romantically against a huge scoop of vanilla. On a 3" white ball. You could do it on gold of course. Any other color is strictly up to you.

Peach Fudge Sundae

 

 

On a recent quick trip back to Paul's hometown New Orleans, to re-connect with some friends who not only SURVIVED, but PREVAILED that horrible catastrophe, "Katrina", there was also a compelling desire to "find" an ice-cream parlor that once offered a mouth-watering delicacy. Was it possible to be the same as we remembered? COULD it be the same? That special peach ice cream, scooped over a secret recipe fudge brownie. THERE WAS THE PLACE! Right, where it had always been. And after one bite, YEARS fell away. For a short time, all bad things were forgotten. This touch with the past was not a fantasy. On a 3" baby pink ball. Such was the Romanov Dynasty, which lasted 300 years. To see the lush richness and lavishly draped chambers in the restored palaces in St. Petersburg make one become utterly speechless. All those forgotten artists who painted, sculpted, molded, gilded and stitched. How would it be even possible to find the talent and expertise to reproduce this magnificence today ? In 1634 in Holland, there was such a passion for this showy flower, that fabulous fortunes were spent or traded just to obtain ONE single unique tulip blossom. We didn't really believe that until one April we saw thousands in full bloom in just one or two colors, for as far as they eye could see. No matter how jaded one may THINK one is, it overwhelms any effort to stay in control.....The heart beats faster. On a 3" hot pink ball, but could change the ball to any color that goes with red and pink.... Like White, Gold, Baby Pink?

VIENNESE CONFECTION

 

 

The city of Vienna itself is a jewel, and much of the architecture looks good enough to eat. But, to go there on a diet is something like going against nature. So many bakeries. So many sinfully caloric goodies. You have to pretend that anything that makes your mouth water means NOTHING, if you have a lite soda with it. Yeah, sure. Our fattening delight is on a 3" gold ball. Old Quebec

 

 

Have you ever traveled to a place you've never been before, expect so MUCH. And been disappointed? At first? We went to Old Quebec City in NOVEMBER, AND IT WAS RAINY, and DREARY, and COLORLESS. We wondered why we had come. Two days later, the sun came out, the bright reflections bounced off the St. Lawrence River onto the glorious buildings. and we began to know why we were there. The darkness disappeared and we were relaxed to sink gloriously into the welcoming arms of the locals. And the FOOD! The best this side of Paris! Because of the weather, practically the only tourists were CANADIANS!. We combined both reactions on a 3" black ball with lots of crystal reflections. Narcissus

 

 

Narcissus MAY have been a "Beautiful Greek Youth"whom nemeses caused him to fall in love with his own reflection, and pine away until he turned into a narcissus. Of course, it may have been a jonquil or a daffodil. Either way, in Holland in April, when these lovely yellow beauties poke their heads up from the sea of green grass, it's a sight to fill the soul. Designed on a 3" yellow ball, but you can change to either, white, or celery. (New in March 2009)

Wheel of Fortune, The

 

 

The flower action in Holland is an overwhelming experience. When we were told that "it is the largest building in the world under one roof, the size of 250 football fields". Yeah, right. Welllllll.. it IS!! How do they bid? The mathematical ingenuity involves a "clock" , with a rapidly turning dial. When one investor bids, the "clock" stops. Sale over. New sale begins immediately. It may not be circled in "diamonds", but with the value the Dutch put on flowers, it might as well be. We call it "The Wheel of Fortune". The ornament kits like the many wonderful tulip colors we saw can be designed on ANY of the following colors. White, Royal, Gold, Emerald, Red, Black, Lavender, Purple, Yellow, Pale Blue, Hot Pink, Baby Pink and Celery. (New in March 2009)

Sydney

 

 

While it is certainly true that the Opera House is the most striking silhouette on entering Sydney harbor, it turns out to be but ONE reason to go to this utterly fascinating city. It sparkles. And if you get good advice, you will discover little inlets, marvelous food .. AND the PEOPLE: warm, friendly, and yes, BEAUTIFUL!!!. You'll want to plan a return--- the day you get back! Snowflower

We always recommend this one as a starter since it LOOKS as if you have really worked for HOURS, but it takes only about an hour. As crisp as THAT Silent Night. There is a beautifully proportioned mansion on 5th Avenue in New York City that currently houses a famous jewelry company. But years ago, this was the home of a wealthy, elegant lady. Sounds so weird, but she actually traded that gorgeous place for----YES, a string of pearls!. Wonder what happened to them. Her HOUSE still exists&. But the PEARLS ? Could those possibly be here, on this ball? Hmmmm. On a 3" pale blue ball, but you could do YOUR "trading" on any of the following colors. No matter where we've traveled, and been inspired by so much that is totally indigenous to THAT particular place, there are SOME things that seem universal. Wings of Doves

 

 

Holland enjoys only about 32 days with FULL sunshine a year! No wonder everything is so lush and green. So, it was no surprise on our ride to DELFT that the clouds---- huge, dark grey to fluffy white--- were drenching the countryside. That didn't dampen the charm of this quaint town, and suddenly, as if from nowhere , out flew two white doves, their wings glistening from the rain. A portent of the sudden shaft of sunlight that caught them in flight. On a 3" white ball, but you might try this one on ANY of our alternative colors.

Shady Lady

 

 

Not what you think! Maybe we should have called this "SHADED LADY". Only a "perfect face" would dare to wear a "cloche," which was a tightly fitting hat, with a thin brim that framed that perfection. That's what we saw at an outdoor café in Lyon, France in 1999. The headgear may be outdated with its silver dangles, but SHE knew what she was doing: men were stopping in their tracks. Us Too. We remember her on a 3" red ball but you can recall that 1930's era on any of the other colors we offer.

Silver Shadows

 

 

Late at night, we leaned against the railing, watching the wave tips glistening silver from the moonlight against the deep blue of the ocean. The only sound was the whish of the water against the ship's hull. Forgotten were the day's headlines, the world's obsession with hate---- up here, all was calm, peaceful, and incredibly beautiful.
